In their Test debuts during the series opener in Perth, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana impressed with their performances. Reddy contributed 41 runs in the first innings as India was dismissed for 150 and followed it up with an unbeaten 38 off 27 balls in the second. Rana delivered with the ball, claiming three wickets for 48 runs in the first innings and one more in the second.
At the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma praised Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy for their impressive performances. He mentioned they didn’t seem like debutants and highlighted that players like them are crucial for India to succeed in major series. He said:
Didn’t feel like it was their first game (in Perth). Their body language looked superb. These are the guys you want when you want to win a big series.
Rohit Sharma missed the first Test because of personal reasons, staying with his family for the birth of his second child instead of traveling to Perth. He later rejoined the team during the match, where India achieved a dominant 295-run victory.
India and Australia will face off in the second Test on Friday, December 6, at the Adelaide Oval. India is ahead in the five-match Test series, leading 1-0 after their win in the first match.
