IND vs AUS: Debate Over Rohit Sharma’s Role as India Prepares for Crucial Gabba Test

After a disappointing performance in Adelaide, where he scored just 3 and 6 in the Day-Night Test, there has been debate about whether Rohit Sharma should return to his original opening position. Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar have suggested moving KL Rahul to the middle order instead. Rahul performed well in Perth but struggled in Adelaide.

Dodda Ganesh has suggested that the Indian cricket team should continue with the opening pair of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the third Test against Australia at The Gabba starting December 15. He warned that Rohit Sharma might struggle with the bat in Brisbane, making it difficult if he opens the innings. He said:

Rohit Sharma is already short of confidence and runs. Experts urging him to open at Gabba is foolhardy to say the least. The series is not being played in the subcontinent where he can throw his bat and get some runs. It will be lamb to the slaughterhouse if he opens #AUSvIND.

Rohit Sharma’s poor form continues in Test cricket, having scored just 142 runs in 12 innings since September with an average of 11.83. This led to doubts about his place in the crucial Gabba Test against Australia.
