Salman Agha discussed his batting position, explaining that he typically bats in the middle and lower order in different formats. However, he expressed his flexibility and willingness to bat at any position for the team. He is comfortable adjusting to whatever role is needed to support the team’s strategy and success.
Salman Agha was asked about the status of opener Sam Ayub’s injury during a press conference. He expressed hope that Ayub would recover in time for the Champions Trophy, based on the medical reports, and remain part of the team’s plans for the tournament. He said:
Considering the initial medical reports of Saim Ayub, he will recover before the Champions Trophy. We all must pray that he gets fine soon because we know his importance for the Pakistan team. We hope that he will join us for the Champions Trophy.
During the second Test between South Africa and Pakistan in Cape Town, Saim Ayub was injured while fielding. He had to be carried off the field on a stretcher after just the seventh over when a ball from South African batter Ryan Rickelton edged through the slip cordon.
While fielding at deep third, Saim Ayub chased the ball with fast bowler Aamer Jamal. Jamal stopped the ball from crossing the boundary, with Ayub positioned as a relay fielder. Unfortunately, Ayub lost his balance and twisted his ankle badly while attempting to assist with the throw.
