Teams must submit their preliminary squads for the Champions Trophy by January 12. They are also required to submit their final 15-member provisional squads by February 12, without needing approval from a technical committee. The International Cricket Council will announce the submitted squads on February 13.
Despite concerns about his injury, Ayub may be included in Pakistan’s preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy. He fractured his ankle during the second Test against South Africa and is currently receiving treatment for the injury in England. Selectors are evaluating his condition before making a final decision.
Saim Ayub was sent to London for specialized ankle treatment, as directed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Accompanied by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, Ayub traveled from Cape Town to London on January 7. Dr. Muhammad Faisal, the High Commissioner, is overseeing his treatment. Naqvi expressed hope for Ayub’s speedy recovery, valuing him as an important player for Pakistan cricket:
