Hasan Ali Makes Bold Claim that PSL Will Beat IPL in Viewership!

After being the talk of the town due to its scheduling clash with IPL 2025, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is making headlines again. This season, PSL is set to run from April 11 to May 18, directly overlapping with the Indian Premier League. Traditionally held in February-March, PSL had to shift windows due to the Champions Trophy and scheduling conflicts with leagues like SA20, ILT20, and BPL.

Despite the risk of reduced viewership, Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali believes that strong performances and quality entertainment could tilt the audience in PSL’s favor. “If we perform well, the viewership will shift from IPL to PSL”, he asserted. PSL CEO Salman Naseer also addressed the overlap, explaining that with no major international events during IPL, it was the only available window where most PSL core players were available.

This bold scheduling choice has sparked debate, especially as IPL remains the world’s premier T20 league in terms of global viewership and revenue. However, PSL remains confident that its strong fan base and engaging cricket can still draw significant attention — even when going head-to-head with cricket’s biggest franchise league. The opening match features Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars.
