Harleen Deol leads Up Warriorz to their first win in WPL 2026

Nat Sciver-Brunt (65 off 43 balls) batted with the brute force she is known for to lift the Mumbai Indians to 161 for five after a rather ordinary first half of the innings.

On the other hand, Harleen Deol (64 not out off 39) was able to make her point by anchoring the run chase with her performance, despite the disappointment of being retired out of a match the night before. This win for UPW is their first of the season and has lifted them from the bottom of the league after four games, while the Mumbai Indians have now lost two matches and have only two wins.

After her retirement, Harleen came into this match with renewed motivation and determination to take as many boundaries as possible, including three boundaries in one over from Shabnim Ismail, who is known for being an excellent bowler.

What was evident throughout Harleen’s innings was how well she played shots to the left side of the field while scoring runs in a relaxed manner.

In the 15th over of the match, the Indian batter scored her fifty through a sweep off the bowler Sanskriti Gupta. Following that, she hit two more fours in the same over, which left her team needing 29 runs off 24 balls with seven wickets in hand.

She and Chloe Tryon (27 not out off 11) completed the task without any hiccups.

On the other end of the table, UP Warriors are continuing to struggle at the top of the order with Meg Lanning (25 off 26) and Kiran Navgire (10 off 12) not having an explosive start.

Before that, the opening pair of Amanjot Kaur (38 off 33) and G Kamalimi (5 off 12) did not really get started on a pitch that was slow and assisted the spinners.

Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur (16 off 11) formed a partnership after the departure of the openers in successive overs.
