After India’s thrilling four-wicket victory over Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semifinals, the team is now preparing for the final against New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai. This win was particularly satisfying for India after their heartbreaking loss to Australia in the 2023 World Cup final.
Chasing 264, India showcased their dominance, with Virat Kohli leading the charge with 84 runs. Hardik Pandya also played a crucial role, scoring 28 off 24 balls, smashing three sixes and a boundary. His aggressive batting helped India inch closer to victory before he was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell at 259 runs. He said:
I knew I could hit two sixes whenever I wanted. But I didn’t think about what would happen next or what the mood would be inside. I knew everyone would be a bit tense, so I was laughing a little to myself.
Interestingly, Pandya smiled as he walked back, later revealing that he was amused by the tension in the dressing room. India remained unbeaten in the tournament and had already defeated New Zealand by 44 runs in the group stage. As the final showdown approaches, the Men in Blue aim to clinch the Champions Trophy title once again.
