Gerald Coetzee Makes Comeback as South Africa Unveils Squad for Pakistan Tri-Series

For the upcoming tri-nation series in Pakistan, South Africa has announced a 12-member squad featuring six uncapped players. Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee makes a return after recovering from a left hamstring injury sustained during the Sri Lanka Test series. The Proteas will face New Zealand in their first match on February 10 in Karachi. Due to the ongoing SA20 tournament, several key players will join the squad later, with the final squad for the series being announced on February 9.

The provisional squad includes captain Temba Bavuma, fast bowlers Eathan Bosch and Junior Dala, all-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Mihlali Mpongwana, and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne. Uncapped players like batter Meeka-eel Prince, pacers Gideon Peters and Bosch, and all-rounder Mpongwana add fresh talent to the squad. Senior players like Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will join after their SA20 commitments.

Notably, star players including Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Ryan Rickelton, and Tristan Stubbs have been rested to stay fresh for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. South Africa, placed in Group B with Australia, England, and Afghanistan, will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Afghanistan on February 21 in Karachi.
