In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, UP Warriorz have signed Australian batter Georgia Voll as a replacement for Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, who left the tournament to join Sri Lanka’s national team for their New Zealand tour starting March 4. Voll has signed for INR 30 lakh and is considered one of the brightest young talents in women’s cricket. She made a mark early in her career, scoring a century in just her second ODI against India on December 5, 2024, in Brisbane.
Voll also earned a place in Australia’s squad for the 2025 Women’s Ashes and made her T20I debut against England on January 20, 2025, at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024-25, she played for Sydney Thunder, scoring 330 runs in 12 matches at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 144.73, including two half-centuries.
UP Warriorz, currently fourth in the points table with two wins and three losses, recently suffered a heavy defeat to Mumbai Indians. Despite Grace Harris’ quick 45 off 26 balls, the Warriorz posted only 142/9, which Mumbai chased down easily with eight wickets and three overs to spare.
