He has made more runs than both Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate in Test cricket, so only Gautam Gambhir will have to tell the players about how to bat in Australia and what should be the batting approach, maybe we can come up with a good performance.
His statement clearly indicates the fact that while India’s coaching staff includes Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate as assistant coaches, they have not had much test cricket experience to guide the Indian team to recover from this disaster, on the other hand, Gavaskar highlighted Gambhir’s unique experience, which could be instrumental in rebuilding confidence among the batters.
