From being a teammate of Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli to starting a new chapter as a banker, former pacer Siddharth Kaul’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. Kaul, a crucial part of India’s victorious U19 World Cup team in 2008, announced his retirement from cricket after a 17-year career and has joined the State Bank of India (SBI).
Known for his consistent domestic performances, the 34-year-old played 88 first-class matches, taking 297 wickets, and 111 List A games, claiming 199 dismissals. Kaul remains the highest wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 155 scalps and leads the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy charts with 120 wickets.
Kaul’s IPL career saw him at his best in 2018 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he bagged 21 wickets, finishing as the joint second-highest wicket-taker that season. Despite playing only three ODIs and three T20Is for India, he left a lasting mark in domestic and league cricket. His post-retirement move to SBI reflects his versatility and readiness for new challenges. Sharing the news on social media, Kaul’s transition from cricket fields to a corporate environment highlights a unique career trajectory, symbolizing resilience and adaptability.
