Ellyse Perry Creates WPL History with Record-Breaking Knock

For the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Ellyse Perry has created history by becoming the tournament’s highest run-scorer. Perry’s unbeaten 90 off 56 balls, including three sixes and nine fours, was the highlight of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) innings against UP Warriorz. However, despite her heroics, RCB lost in the Super Over at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 24.

Perry’s consistency throughout the season has been remarkable. She now has 835 runs from 21 innings at an average of 64.23 and a strike rate of 133, surpassing Meg Lanning’s previous record of 782 runs. In WPL 2025 alone, Perry has amassed 235 runs in just four innings, averaging 117.50 with a strike rate of 160.96.

While Perry has shone individually, RCB has struggled as a team. Captain Smriti Mandhana’s inconsistent form has been a concern, and the defending champions have now suffered back-to-back defeats. To stay in contention for a top-three finish, RCB needs to find a form quickly and capitalize on Perry’s performances. Despite the losses, Perry’s dominance with the bat continues to be a standout in the WPL 2025.
