After being the marquee overseas signing for Karachi Kings, David Warner’s PSL 2025 campaign has started with controversy. Set to captain the side, Warner missed the official PSL 2025 captains’ conference attended by five of the six skippers, choosing instead to focus on an intra-squad practice match. Vice-captain Hasan Ali represented the Karachi Kings at the event. However, the day turned sour when Warner stormed off the practice nets, visibly angry over the green pitch provided instead of a flat track he had requested for batting preparation.
This walkout just a day before the Karachi Kings’ opener against the Multan Sultans on April 12 at the National Bank Stadium has raised concerns about team harmony and Warner’s rapport with the management. The Karachi squad features a strong overseas contingent, including James Vince, Adam Milne, Tim Seifert, Mohammad Nabi, and Kane Williamson.
Warner’s fury contrasts sharply with the smooth preparations of other franchises. Islamabad United boasts overseas stars like Alex Carey and Jason Holder, while Multan Sultans feature Michael Bracewell and Shai Hope. Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators also have power-packed foreign recruits such as Kusal Perera, Mitchell Owen, and Finn Allen. All eyes will be on Warner as PSL 2025 gets underway amid rising pressure.
