Champions Trophy Under Attack? Over 100 Pakistani Policemen Dismissed Amid Security Concerns

Pakistan’s security forces have dismissed over 100 police officers for negligence during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. These officers, responsible for ensuring the safety of teams traveling between Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and their hotels, were either absent from duty or refused to perform their tasks. Punjab Police confirmed the dismissals, with IGP Usman Anwar stressing that there is no room for security lapses in international events.

Despite concerns, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar reassured that the tournament is being hosted peacefully, with full stadiums and an enthusiastic crowd. The Champions Trophy 2025 is Pakistan’s first ICC event in 29 years, marking a crucial milestone for the country after years of security concerns.

On the field, Pakistan had a disappointing campaign, getting eliminated after consecutive losses to New Zealand and India. They lost their opening match to New Zealand by 60 runs and suffered a six-wicket defeat to India with 7.3 overs to spare. Their performance has drawn heavy criticism from former cricketers and fans. The security situation and Pakistan’s poor form have made this a turbulent tournament for the host nation.
