India and England are all set to go off for a thrilling five-match T20I series which starts from today, i.e., 22 January, with the first match being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian team as they go against England in the series, after defeating them previously in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024.
England has already named its playing eleven for the first match and this could also cause some challenges for the Indian team. This is because the team has a strong bowling line-up, which Jos Buttler also talked about in a pre-match interview with the media.
In the interview, the England skipper said that this line-up could help them attack at all departments to the Indian batting line-up. He said:
That (the squad) gives a lot of depth to the XI and confidence to the guys at the top that there’s plenty [of batting] to come, so we can be really aggressive and, you know, not worry too much about our wicket, because we’ve got guys behind us who can do exactly the same job.
Buttler also talked about Jacob Bethell, as he will be facing a new challenge when going against India in India for the very first time. The all-rounder made his debut in September 2024 and has impressed everyone with his performances.
