Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah Acknowledges Transition Challenges and Urges Patience, Says “We don’t point fingers…”

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s leading pacer, has been a standout performer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, single-handedly leading the bowling attack. Despite his exceptional efforts, including a six-wicket haul at The Gabba in Brisbane, the lack of support from other bowlers has put India in a precarious position.

Bumrah has bagged 18 wickets in the series, showcasing his unmatched skill, but Australia’s ability to recover from 74/3 to post 445 in the third Test highlighted India’s struggles. Bumrah dismissed key players like Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Travis Head, achieving his second five-wicket haul of the series. Yet, the inability of other bowlers to maintain pressure after the ball softened was evident.

Speaking to reporters, Bumrah addressed the challenges of a transitioning team. He said:

We don’t point fingers. Obviously, we are going through a transition. Not the easiest place to play. I am trying to help, everyone will learn and get better. This is a journey. We have 11 players, we are a new team. All these journeys will help them get better.

When asked about external opinions, Bumrah maintained his focus. He added:

I cannot take extra baggage I don’t take any opinion seriously. I look at myself and answer and give my absolute best. I ask that end of day and I accept the results.

India faces an uphill battle, ending Day 3 at 54/4 in response to Australia’s mammoth total, with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma at the crease. Bumrah’s leadership on and off the field continues to be a silver lining in a challenging series.
