BCCI introduces game-changing 10-point policy with new rules for Team India

After losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia and suffering a historic Test series whitewash at home against New Zealand, the BCCI has introduced a strict 10-point policy aimed at improving discipline and performance in Indian cricket. The policy, unveiled after a high-level review meeting involving head coach Gautam Gambhir, Captain Rohit Sharma, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, seeks to address concerns about accountability and professionalism.

A major change mandates players to participate in domestic cricket to remain eligible for national selection, with exceptions only under extraordinary circumstances. Players are now required to travel together for matches and practice sessions, discouraging individual travel arrangements with family. Excess baggage costs must also be borne by the players themselves.

Restrictions include bans on personal endorsements or shoots during series, limitations on personal staff accompanying players, and mandatory attendance at BCCI events. Family visits are permitted only on long overseas tours under controlled conditions.

Non-compliance with these guidelines could result in severe penalties, such as suspension from the IPL, deductions from central contract retainers, and match fees. The policy emphasizes team cohesion and disciplined conduct, aiming to restore Indian cricket’s focus and competitiveness. This overhaul reflects the BCCI’s determination to revitalize Indian cricket after a challenging period.
