With the geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan intensifying, Bangladesh’s planned T20I tour to Pakistan is now in jeopardy. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed strong concerns over player safety, especially for its two cricketers — Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain — currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. This worry stems from fears of further unrest following India’s recent “Operation Sindoor”, a strategic airstrike that could provoke armed retaliation from Pakistan.
Originally set to begin on May 25, the Bangladesh tour was scheduled to include five T20Is, revised from an earlier plan of six white-ball matches that included ODIs. According to Cricbuzz, BCB President Faruque Ahmed stated the decision to proceed will depend on how the situation develops in the next three to four days.
The series, if it happens, is slated to take place at two venues: the first two T20Is in Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, and the remaining three at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. While cricket boards like the BCCI and PCB are still hopeful about conducting their respective leagues (IPL and PSL), the security concerns for foreign players in Pakistan remain a top priority for touring nations like Bangladesh. The tour’s fate now hangs on regional stability.
