AUS vs SL 1st Test Day 2: Khwaja and Inglis Shine As Australia Gets 610 Runs Lead

Australia continued its dominance in the first Test match against Sri Lanka, as the team scored a massive total of 654 runs for the loss of six wickets before declaring. They started off the day with 330 for the loss of two wickets, as Steven Smith and Usman Khawaja continued to smash boundaries over the Lankan bowlers.

After a massive partnership of 266 between them for the third wicket, Sri Lanka got the breakthrough with the wicket of Steven Smith, dismissing him at the score of 141 runs off 251 balls. But the debutant Josh Inglis had different plans, as he partnered with Usman Khawaja to dominate again. In his debut Test match, Inglis smashed a century, scoring 102 runs in 94 balls with 10 fours and 1 six.

Also, Usman Khawaja got his maiden double century in Tests, as he scored 232 runs off 352 balls, before losing his wicket to Jayasuriya. Alex Carey also played up an impressive knock of 46 runs off 69 balls, being not out, as their captain Steven Smith decided to declare.

By the end of Day 2, the Sri Lankan batters struggled, as they currently stand at the score of 44 for the loss of 3 wickets in 15 overs. Matthew Kuhnemann took the first wicket, dismissing Oshada Fernando, which was later followed by two more wickets taken by Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon.
